Dog Training

We offer 1 to 1 training sessions for puppies and adult dogs, where we will work with you to give you the tools and confidence to train and communicate with your dog effectively. Our training is not a ‘one size fits all’, we understand that every dog is different and they all have unique personalities, we have 5 dogs ourselves and we train each one of them slightly differently. During our sessions, we will work with you to address any issues and put solid, positive foundations in place. Your first training session will include an assessment to allow us to plan your training, understand what is important to you and gain an understanding of your dog and what stage their training is at.

We are firm, but fair trainers who work with positive reward techniques to bring the best out in your dog. But we also believe, to achieve the best relationship with your dog, there needs to be clear boundaries in place and we will use the word ‘no’ if needed.

We specialise in retrieval and gun dog training, but this can sometimes be an off-putting and intimidating environment, so we provide simple and achievable training, tailored to you and your dog, which is developed to break down barriers and remove overcomplicated jargon. At Fernfields, we use retrieval and gundog techniques to create fun and mentally stimulating training sessions that will provide you with effective training activities and techniques that you can use at home, out on walks and put into everyday practice, for all levels and breeds.

Although we often work with gun dog breeds such as Labradors and Spaniels, we have experience and work with other breeds, including: Boxers, Frenchies, Dachshunds and Terriers.
